Penile Doppler Ultrasound in Abu Dhabi
Penile Doppler uses ultrasound to assess blood flow during an erection. It can help investigate suspected vascular erectile dysfunction or selected cases of Peyronie's disease. Dr. Juan Uría can assess whether this test would change your treatment plan at NMC Royal Hospital Khalifa City, Abu Dhabi.

This is a targeted investigation, not a routine test for every erection problem. Your history, examination and previous response to treatment determine whether it is useful.
What the assessment involves
Bring previous reports and a list of medicines, including erection medicines and blood thinners.
Review symptoms, previous treatment and the question the scan should answer.
Discuss the injection, consent and any history of prolonged erections.
Measure blood flow at intervals and interpret it alongside erection quality.
Agree on the next step and instructions for a persistent erection before leaving.
Treatment
The scan guides a discussion; it does not itself treat erectile dysfunction. Depending on the findings and your priorities, options may include adjusting medical treatment, injection therapy, a vacuum device or an implant consultation.

Common questions
01Do I need Doppler if Viagra or tadalafil has failed?
Sometimes. First review correct use, stimulation, tolerability and possible underlying causes. Doppler is considered when the vascular information would help choose treatment.
02Does it diagnose venous leak?
It can suggest impaired trapping of blood, but anxiety or an incomplete response to the injection can give misleading results. One abnormal measurement is not a diagnosis on its own.
03What do PSV and EDV mean?
PSV describes peak arterial inflow velocity; EDV measures velocity at the end of the heartbeat's relaxation phase. They must be interpreted with the protocol, timing and erection achieved.
04Is the injection painful, and what happens afterwards?
A brief sting, aching or bruising can occur. Follow the team's instructions and contact them promptly for a persistent or painful erection. An erection lasting four hours needs emergency assessment; seek help earlier if pain is severe.
05Can the scan prove my problem is psychological?
No. Normal blood flow does not establish a psychological diagnosis. Physical and psychological factors may coexist.
06How do I arrange it in Abu Dhabi?
Book an assessment with Dr. Uría. The hospital can confirm suitability, preparation, appointment length, availability and insurance coverage before scheduling the test.
